Tangent is always looking for new ways to present plays.  While in Dublin a few years back we met with theater troupe AboutFACE, who introduced us to the idea of pub theater – staging or reading plays in a pub as a way of keeping costs down and reaching audiences more intimately. We loved the idea.

We started testing pub theater with readings of contemporary classics and original works in New York City. The idea really took hold and we're excited to continue the momentum in our new home, the Hudson Valley.

Thanks to Michael Nickerson at the Black Swan in Tivoli, we have a reading-base and pub theater is a hit!  We'd like to also thank Steven Young, our "voice from above," for his vital role in reading stage directions - and for helping to further bring the plays to life each time.

tangent will be hosting readings all year and producing a variety of other works, including main-stage productions.
